FAQ

What is Sensory Integration?

Think of it as an electrical system that gathers all the information from the environment and information from all the senses of the body sends it into the nervous system (in the brain) where the information is processed and interpreted which results in an appropriate action or response for the given stimulus or situation.

What is SPD?

(Sensory Processing Disorder) Challenges to Sensory Integration result from a “short circuit” somewhere along the electrical system described above, and the action and or behavior is what is observed. What’s tricky is that the “short circuit” often moves around and different behaviors may be observed within a day or from day to day. This is why you want to seek professional services from an occupational therapist.

What form of payment do you accept?

Payment is expected at the time of each visit. You are welcome to pay in advance. We take Private Pay and at various times offer packages. Venmo is the preferred way for us to accept payment and will accept cash and check as well.

What insurance do you accept?

Accepted Insurance: Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield and DMBA . We do the billing complementary, and ask that you assist us on the front end to gather the necessary information. This helps us use our time to focus on providing the best quality of care for you and your child.

How do I get started?

Once the initial Appointment, usually an Occupational Therapy Evaluation, (if it’s the first time seeking OT services) is scheduled, you will be emailed an intake questionnaire and an insurance worksheet if you are going through an accepted insurance company. The insurance worksheet must be returned quickly in order to start the pre-authorization process. The intake questionnaire must be returned within a few days of receiving it to allow us enough time to prepare for the initial appointment. We do ask that it is filled out thoroughly so we can assist you and your child.

What if prior occupational therapy services were received at another facility or are being received at school?

We will ask you to submit *additional paperwork including Occupational Therapy Reports from the evaluation, recent progress reports and a discharge report. If they are being seen at school by an Occupational Therapist, please include the IEP especially information pertaining to Occupational Therapy Services. There is an additional charge for time spent reviewing the additional reports.

What if a client is being seen or has been tested by other professionals such as a psychologist, psychiatrist, speech therapist, etc.?

We will ask you to submit *additional paperwork including any reports from the evaluation, recent progress reports and a discharge report If you feel it will be beneficial information for us to have to help you and your child.

*A fee may be assessed for our time to read through the additional information you provide. It will not be billed to insurance.

How long are your sessions?

An initial Occupational Therapy Evaluation is approximately 90 minutes An Occupational Therapy Session is 45-50 minutes and then the therapist spends approximately 10 minutes for documentation.

How often do you see your clients?

Every client is an individual and their needs vary from person to person. With that being said, we do like to start by seeing most clients on average twice a week. Some people will benefit from more weekly sessions and some from less. From time to time we offer therapy intensives. We customize to each client.
